Visiting Troop 419

Hello prospective Scouts and Parents!

I'm Jay Kerr, the Scoutmaster for Troop 419 at King’s Grant Presbyterian Church.  Troop 419 has a long tradition of producing good boys for today and strong men for tomorrow. We have been continuously chartered since 1963.

Boy Scout Troop 419 would like to extend an invitation to you to visit our Troop.  We currently have 65 boys in the Troop ranging in ages from 11 to 17 and we draw our members from all over Little Neck as well as other areas of Virginia Beach.  Meetings are held each Tuesday from 6:45 to 8:15 in the evening.  Each month the Troop provides at least one outing opportunity which includes camping, hiking, and community service.  Sometimes the outing has a “purpose” and sometimes is “just for fun.” Recently, we have been hiking, sailing, rock climbing, bicycling and a wide range of other exciting activities.

In the spring, the Troop provides an opportunity for all new scouts to quickly earn their first rank of Tenderfoot.  A weekend is spent camping locally and working on many of the rank advancement requirements.  Older scouts attend to encourage and help new scouts learn the basics of scouting.

Any boy who is 11 years old (or finished fifth grade) is invited to visit Troop 419.  Come get a look at the Troop, talk to the boys in the Troop, and decide if you might like to be part of Troop 419.
