09/26/2014-09/28/2014: Westover ARB Campout

The Webelos IIs of Pack 138 will be joining us for a campout on the Westover ARB. On Saturday, we will be taking a tour of a C-5 Galaxy, the fire station and the control tower.

09/28/2014: Seven Sisters Hike

After breaking camp on Sunday morning, the troop will head to the Notch in Amherst for 10:00 AM and meet up with any other hikers from the troop who did not attend the Westover ARB campout. From there, we will go up Bear Mountain and travel on the M&M trail to the Summit House on Skinner Mountain in South Hadley where we get picked up. We will be eating lunch on the trail, so all hikers need to pack a meal. Also bring plenty of water, as this is a challenging hike and we will be exerting ourselves quite a bit. Completing the Seven Sisters hike satisfies requirement 9b of the Camping merit badge.

Troop 138 will be selling mums for $5 each outside of St. Rose de Lima Church during the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday and the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Masses on Sunday. Scouts should wear their Class B uniforms.

10/13/2014: Gene and Trudy Pike Climbing Tower Dedication

Council is inviting “Scouts, families, friends, Scouting alumni, and the local community” to the dedication ceremony for the new climbing tower at Moses Scout Reservation 10:00-10:30 AM, followed by an open climb available until 4:00 PM. 10/15/2014: Troop Meeting

10/17/2014-10/19/2014: Woodsman Challenge Camporee

Troop 138 will be attending the Woodsman Challenge Camporee at Brimfield’s Heart-O-The Mart. The registration fee is $18 per person ($15 if paid by October 3), which includes a pig roast dinner on Saturday night. The campout fee to cover our other meals is $10 per person. Check-in for the camporee is 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday.

10/22/2014: Troop Meeting

We will be meeting at the school for our usual time, then heading to Pynchon Press for a tour. This is part of the Graphic Arts merit badge.

10/25/2014: Graphic Arts Merit Badge Session

Scouts working on the Graphic Arts merit badge will visit Mr. Stallman's office 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. We will be designing a new Class B t-shirt for the troop.

10/26/2014: Pancake Breakfast

Troop 138 will be holding an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast in the hall of St. Rose de Lima Church, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM. We will get there at 7:30 AM to prep. Scouts will do the serving and bus the tables. The menu includes pancakes, sausages and beverages (coffee, etc.). The cost is $5 per adult, $3 per child under 10.

10/29/2014: Troop Meeting

We will be putting out flags at the St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, then head over to the school for our Halloween potluck.


11/01/2014: Bottle and Can Drive

Troop 138 will be holding a bottle and can drive fundraiser on Saturday, November 1, 2014, 9:00 AM-11:30 AM at St. Joan/St. George School.

11/05/2014: Troop Meeting

The “Snackin' in the USA” fundraiser begins. Catalogs, order forms and envelopes will be handed out tonight. For each item sold, $3.50 will go to the seller’s individual Scout account. This fundraiser is intended to help Scouts pay their way for summer camp.

11/11/2014: Veterans Day Ceremony

All troop members are encouraged to attend the Veterans Day ceremony at Doverbrook in Chicopee. Meet at Doverbrook for 8:15 AM. Dress warmly and wear your Class A uniform.

11/12/2014: Troop Meeting

Bring your rakes and gloves; we will be raking leaves around the school for part of our meeting.

11/15/2014: Flag Removal

We will be meeting at 1:00 PM to remove flags from St. Rose de Lima Cemetery.

11/19/2014: Troop Meeting

We will be meeting at the school for our usual time, then heading to the printer to make our new Class B t-shirts. This is part of the Graphic Arts merit badge. Also, this is the last day to turn in dues for the annual charter renewal.

11/21/2014-11/22/2014: Rock Climbing Gym Overnight

Troop 138 has arranged an overnight at the Central Rock Gym in Hadley, MA. Scouts who participate will earn the Climbing merit badge.

11/26/2014: Day Before Thanksgiving

There will be no meeting due to the holiday.


12/03/2014: Troop Meeting

Arrowmen will be visiting to discuss the Order of the Arrow and conduct elections for joining their lodge. Also, all “Snackin' in the USA” order forms and money are to be turned in tonight.

We have reserved the Aquatics Lodge at Moses Scout Reservation for the weekend.
