Bishnu Sarker

I am a final year master student of Erasmus Mundus Master in Data Mining and Knowledge Management (DMKM). I am funded by European Union with prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for two years (2014-2016) to study DMKM master program.

For my thesis, I am currently doing my research internship with Statistical Genomics and Biological Physics group of Laboratory of Computational and Quantitative Biology in Collaboration with The Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital of  University of Pierre and Marie Curie , Paris 6, France.

I am working in designing data mining and machine learning techniques for high throughput sequence analyses of B-cell repertoire. Analysing B-Cell repertoire is important to answer some of the basic questions related to human immune system. I am focussing mainly on unsupervised knowledge discovery and problems generated from string processing (String), for instance, learning a new numerical representation of peptide sequence, finding effective distance measure for a well performed and efficient clustering. I am also trying to integrate modern language processing (Sequence Processing) techniques like LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) in contrast to HMM (Hidden Markov Model) that has better capability to capture the sequence dependencies at more abstract level.

I am have also served as the lecturer of Department of Computer Science and Engineering(CSE) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology KUET.

My Research Interests are mainly belongs to
  • Statistical Machine Learning and deep Learning
  • Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
  • Big Data Analytics
  • Bio-Informatics
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Knowledge Representation and Semantics Web
