Summer camp is one of the most important parts of the Troop 76 experience. It's when the troop leadership and new patrols set the tone for the coming year. It's especially important for new scouts to really get to know the troop and see what Boy Scouts is all about. It's when scouts learn many of the core skills that are so useful on camp-outs and High Adventure trips as you grow older. We spend summer camp at Camp Mattatuck in Plymouth, CT, where we are one of the largest and most respected troops. We always attend "Week 2" of camp, typically the second full week in July. We host a family picnic on Wednesday of that week for parents to come visit their scout(s) and enjoy a campfire show later in the evening. Summer camp is a excellent time to make significant headway on your merit badges, as many difficult to achieve badges are offered during the week due to the vast facilities of the Mattatuck campground. This time also forms many of the scouts' best friendships and memories of the troop. Many of our scouts go on to become camp staff, including 3 staffers in 2013. Don't miss out on this very important part of your scout experience.
