Sea Base

During the dates of Simsbury Public School's  April spring break 2011, scouts and adults will have the opportunity to experience one of Boy Scouts High Adventure programs. SEA BASE in Florida.

We are looking at two programs while at Sea Base. The first is SCUBA ADVENTURE, while the second is CORAL REEF SAILING

SCUBA ADVENTURE
Min. 6 - Max. 8 divers (combo scouts/adults) per crew. I the past we have sent up to 2 diving crews to Sea Base.
COST; $850.00 plus air & ground transportation cost along with spending money.
All crew members must be certified divers.
Min. age is 14 at time of adventure.
NOTE: ANY SCOUT OR ADULT WITH ASTHMA MAY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH ATTENDING SCUBA ADVENTURE. In order for any person with asthma to be cleaned by
BSA, additional testing may be required.
BSA has the final say about participation.

Any scout seeking Scuba Diving Certification, contact an area dive shop for more info. One that I use for the scouts is Westfield Water Sports in Southwick, Ma.

CORAL REEF SAILING
Min. 6 - Max. 8 (combo scouts/adults) per crew
COST: $5,800.00 per crew ($966.00 to $725.00 per person depending on size of crew) plus air and ground transportation cost along with spending money. Min. age is 14 at time of adventure Go onto the Sea Base website for detailed information about the trip.
If the interest grows to a level of 18-20 people, we will look into Sea Exploring Adventure to keep everyone on one large schooner.

FOR ALL THOSE ATTENDING SEA BASE, WHEN ARRIVING YOU WILL NEED TO PASS
A SWIMMING TEST CONDUCTED BY THE S.B. STAFF.

Remember; Scuba Adventure is for certified divers only. While Coral Reef Sailing is opening to all eligible participates.

After you have studied about the programs and are interested in attending, please send me an email. Parents, in order for any crew to go forward to Sea Base, adult participation is required. In order for any crew to go to Sea Base, the min. number of crew members must attend.

I have had the opportunity to attend Sea Base twice with each of my sons. Both of my boys and I are certified Open Water scuba divers and we had a great time.

By end of Sept. the decision will be made whether to min. numbers has been reached to send a crew(s) to Sea Base.  Otherwise, an alternative venture trip will be planned for 2011 April School Vacation.
