Cub Scout Pack 82 is chartered by Salem United Methodist Church in Benton, Arkansas. However, Scouting is a non-sectarian organization, and we have boys of many different faiths in the Pack. Pack 82 is part of the Ouachita District of the Quapaw Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
We have a great program for boys in first through fifth grade. Most of our scouts attend either Salem Elementary School in Benton, Springhill Elementary School in Alexander, as well as many that are home-schooled, but we welcome any boys in the area who are interested in Cub Scouting. Our Pack currently has about 50 scouts.
Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program that instills values such as citizenship, teamwork, honesty, respect, responsibility, and fitness, while being a lot of fun! The philosophy of Pack 82 is that scouting should be meaningful, rewarding, and fun. We want the boys to have a great time, while teaching them something along the way. We also believe that an important part of scouting is giving back to the community, through community service projects.
Our Pack's activities this year have included camping, hiking, sleeping overnight at Dickey-Stephens Park, fishing, and a scavenger hunt; as well as community service, involving Arkansas tornado relief efforts and delivering food baskets to the impoverished within our local community--just to name a few.
At our monthly Pack meetings, we have played on inflatables at Party Central, built air-powered rockets, given away prizes, rode and raced in Cubmobiles, and ran a Pinewood Derby Race.
