A New York State of Mind
The Homepage of one Bryan Spellman and Family...
Greetings and welcome to my new home on the world wide web. I am hoping to share this with family and friends and hopefully reconnect with those I have lost touch with.
So look around, drop a line and hopefully come back for more...

As a TV Director, I have worked in different markets for several stations.
I spent much of my childhood moving from place to place. But always in New York. When I left for college I decided to remain in The Empire State while my family became 'Mid-Westerners'. It was not until a few years ago that we broke down and finally hitched up the wagons and went west. The places I have been and am:
New York: Colonie, Bayside, Flushing, Yorktown Heights, Oswego, Watertown, Rochester
Ohio: Chagrin Falls (outside Cleveland)
Indiana: Fishers (outside Indianapolis)
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend most of the same schools even though we had moved so much. K-2 was in Upstate NY while 2-8 was in one Catholic school and then all of High School in the same place. After that I went north to a 4 year State school. There I got my education, degree, and met the love of my life.
I believe in the Jack of all Trades master of none approach to interests. I enjoy books and film, baseball and history, TV and music. When interests collide, that is even better!!
I have always been an avid reader. I was mainly SciFi/Fantasy guy but have since branched out. I have an extensive library (with the wife) and read everything from current non-fiction to classic scifi and historical fiction to fantasy. I am reading several on going series but like to mix it up so as not to burn out on one subject.
Check out my library at Ex Libris charting my reading habits since 2003. It also includes some great book links.
I love film. I love seeing pictures on the big screen by myself, with the wife or the family. It does not matter if I am at home or in a crowded movie house! For a time in the early 90's I managed a movie theater for the now owner of the Cleveland Indians. If I had stayed there, I wonder what could have been, maybe even Asst. to the Traveling Secretary.
Go to Now Showing In Theater 12 and check out what is in my DVD player or at the theater.
This is my sport! My son plays it, I coach it and we all watch it. Little League, Minor League and the big boys in the Majors. I will watch them all. We have been lucky enough to live in smaller cities that have Minor League teams. There is nothing better than a day at any level ball park. Being a native New Yorker, I am of course a Yankees fan. But on that odd occasion when they are not playing in October, I will root for the American League (except the Red Sox).
In addition to following the sport I also collect baseball cards. A long time habit that has resurfaced. We are also going to try Autos TTM (thru the mail) this year. You send old baseball cards to retired and active players with a nice note and SASE and most of the time they will sign your cards and return them. We shall see where this goes.
Last but not least I play Fantasy Baseball. A friend and I started our own league after being dissatisfied with the one we were in. It is smart, it is competitive and above all it is friendly. I am also the 2006 Champion!!! We use a fantastic, inexpensive online stat service.
