My first published story

I just finished a major rewrite of The Age of Innocence. It was the first story I ever wrote and my first published story. I wrote it in a couple of sittings and submitted it to Writer’s Digest magazine. I was shocked when a check arrived in the mail for $20. Someone paid me for a story. I never cashed the check. I framed it and kept it on my desk. At that point, I thought it was easy being a writer. Beginner’s luck—probably. Over the next several years, I submitted several more stories and experienced a bunch of rejections.

If you haven't read it yet, give it a try. I think you'll enjoy it.
