Student Tropical Algebraic Geometry Symposium 2015 April 17-19 at Brown University
What is STAGS?The
Student Tropical Algebraic Geometry Symposium is the second edition of a conference about
tropical geometry (broadly defined) and nearby areas. Our target
participants are graduate students and early postdoctoral fellows. We
hope that most participants will be able to give talks, either on their
own research, or expository talks on a certain aspects of tropical
geometry. The first Student Tropical Algebraic Geometry Seminar was held at Yale University in 2014. Our primary objective is for everyone to learn about their colleagues’ work, or the areas of research they are interested in. In particular, we would be very happy to have people interested in tropical geometry coming from very different backgrounds. We aim to promote conversation between people that are fluent, for example, in the theory of amoebas, in weighted polyhedral complexes, tropicalization, the theory of divisors on graphs, as well as Berkovich analytic geometry. We would like to expose the participants to many topics of recent research interest, such as the study of limit linear series on curves, Brill-Noether theory, the (tropical) geometry of moduli spaces, tropical intersection theory, connections to logarithmic geometry, matroid theory, and many others. Please also consider attending our tropical sister conference, the Students' Workshop on Tropical and Non-Archimedean Geometry at the University of Regensburg.
