While some board members will be working during this time others will be

Broward Leadership Training Workshop
DATE: Saturday, Sepetember 10th, 2016 at
LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale High School
(1600 NE 4th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305).
This is an excellent event
for everyone to attend! You will have an opportunity to learn firsthand
what is expected of your position on the Board and meet various
fundraising vendors. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Florida Tax Free Weekend announced for August 2016. The Florida Sales
Tax Holiday 2016 kicks off on Friday, August 5th, 2016 at 12:01 a.m.
and will end Sunday August 7th, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Florida state
officials recently voted to cut allowances on clothing, shoes,
computers, and dates for Florida 2016 Sales Tax Holiday.
Up to $60 each. Florida legislators were a little more generous than
years past. Garments and accessories are tax free up to $60 each. In
2013, the exemption stopped at $75 per piece.
SHOES Up to $60 per pair. Shoes are eligible for the tax exemption. As
with clothing, however, only footwear costing less than $60 per pair
will ring up tax-free.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES Up to $15 each Sales tax will not be charged on items such as pens, pencils, erasers,
rulers, and glue. The state set a price limit of $15 per item for this
category, but left off items such as staplers and computer paper. Check the complete Florida Sales Tax Holiday 2016 Details to be sure your purchase applies.
The ByLaw Committee has moved to amend the bylaws that will be voted upon at the April 12th meeting.

BCCPTA/PTSAs will continue to make health, education and
welfare of the children the first priority on our agenda. Our membership and leadership will reflect
the diversity of the county we represent.

and services with a refined governance structure, fiscally sound practices and
with strong, well-trained leadership. We
will increase the number and commitment of our members with measurable results
and accountability. Positive social
change will occur through BCCPTA/PTSA involvement in child advocacy, parenting
education and partnering of education.

our agreed-upon goals.
