Yesterday my smaller children spent 4 hours greeting at the polls on behalf of a local candidate. They've spent countless hours getting Democrats elected, around here, even without me on the ballot, as have I.
And at one point the two youngest, 10 & 7, raced to the car. The 10 year old won.
"That's not fair!", said the 7 year old, "I had mittens on, and they slowed me down!"
"You're lucky you had mittens on," retorted the older, "My hands are freezing. Would you rather have mittens, or win?"
"Mittens" said the little one.
"Good." said the 10 year old. "That's because we're Democrats. We care about the issues. All the Republicans care about is whether they win."
Happy Election Day.
These kids will be able to vote in 10 years.
