The Hobell Library

History of the Hobell Collection

Richard Hobell was a strong and active player for the club in the nineties who died a tragically early death in December 2001.  His estate donated Richard’s substantial collection of chess books - 259 items in all - to the club, for which we are grateful.

Thanks goes to David Smith, who catalogued them all, and to Andrew Ponting who maintains the collection.  Anyone who would like to borrow an item should contact the club secretary or Andrew directly.
