Create a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation about the body system assigned to your group.
Create a factsheet to hand out to the rest of the class about the body system.
Create a short quiz to give to the class following your presentation - we will spend some time in class to set this up.

End of Unit Quiz - Fri Nov 16

There will be a short quiz (approx 30 minutes) about the chemistry unit in class on Friday November 16. The quiz will have some multiple choice, short answer and longer answer questions.

The following is a list of topics to review before the quiz:
  1. What are the characteristics of living things? (WB p2-3)
  2. Name the parts of a microscope and their functions (TB p12-13)
  3. What is cell theory? (WB p8)
  4. Give examples of some of the cell organelles and their functions (WB p9)
  5. How are prokaryotic cells different from eukaryotic cells? (WB p8)
  6. How are plant cells different from animal cells? (TB p29-30)
  7. What is diffusion? What is osmosis? (WB p14-15)
You could also use the questions in the textbook on p50-51 as part of your review.

Please have a second draft of your microscope report done by class on Tuesday October 16. Use the comments and corrections I have made in green pen on the first draft as guidance.

We will work on the bibliography in class during the week.

First draft - due Friday October 5

Please write the first draft of your microscope report and print it ready for class on Friday October 5.

This report should be approximately 500 words long. The assignment handout, also attached to a previous post, gives a checklist of all the items you should include in the report.

Please bring your microscope research notes to class - Tuesday October 2.
I am expecting to see
 - a diagram or picture of each microscope with the website it was taken from
 - information about each microscope (when it was made, who made it, where it was made, how it works and some advantages and disadvantages of the microscope). You should also have a list of the website you used to find the information.
