November play - Party Piece

Our November play is “Party Piece”, a comedy by Richard Harris. Bob Rankin is directing and play dates are Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th November. This is a fast paced and very funny play set in the back gardens of feuding neighbours. It is the night of Michael and Roma's fancy dress housewarming party. The evening looks set to be a lively one until a string of hilarious disasters strike…...
My reservations book is open so let me know what tickets you would like reserved for payment on the door, mmarzy123@yahoo.co.uk or 01202 678449.

Changes to price, Front of House and curtain up time
The ticket price is increasing slightly, after many years, to £8.50 and the two for £12 will only apply for Tuesday night. We are discontinuing it for the Wednesday.
From now on the programmes and tea and coffee will be free of charge and self service. Pretty good for a 50p extra on the ticket price!
We expect to break even on these changes, although there will be a donation box by both the programmes and the tea/coffee service points, so anyone who would like to contribute can do so.
Why these changes? Essentially to cut down on the number of people we need to help out Front of House over the six performances. From now on we will not need anyone to sell programmes and only one person to set up and clear away the tea and coffee. We will have two tea/coffee serving points, one at each of the two kitchen hatches, so that should help to speed up the service.  We will be using the Hall's new blue mugs rather than cups and saucers, so a lot less washing up to do. No more biscuits, except for cast, crew and helpers of course! Matinee theatregoers will still get cakes, as again will the cast, crew and helpers.
Curtain up will be at 7.30pm rather than 7.45pm, so that the curtain will not come down so late on longer plays – something we believe our audiences will appreciate.  For the Matinee, curtain up is now 2.15pm.

Front of House for November
Maxine is looking for Front of House teams, do please let her know which performances you can cover. You are entitled to 2 tickets for any performance for each time you help Front of House, whether for yourself or to give to others.

Suggestions for plays to perform

Do you have any suggestions for plays that we could perform in the future? We would love your ideas. We are not asking you to direct, or to take part, just for the names of plays that you have maybe seen and enjoyed or have heard people talking about. Perhaps something you might have been involved in at some point, somewhere.

November club night – play readings in the Barn

Our next club night will be in the Barn, from 7.30pm on Wednesday 1st November.
At one of the club nights last year, Malcolm brought some of his plays along, including one that formed part of Plays n Chips a few years ago. And we all enjoyed reading them. He was asked to come back so he is returning for our November club night and bringing one or two more of his plays along for us to read. They are all comedies and some of them have been performed at charity theatre nights.
If you have any suggestions for future club nights, then please let me know.

Director for February 2019

We have directors in place for all the full length plays for the rest of this year and next year. So now we are now looking for directors for our February and May plays in 2019.  If this could be you, then do let Lyn Richell know.

Directors for Plays n Chips 2018

Would you be interested in directing a one act play for Plays n Chips next year? This is open to all, whether you have directed before or not. It is a great opportunity to try out directing and you can have as much support and mentoring as you would like. Two of our three directors at Plays n Chips this year were first time directors. We can also help you to choose a suitable play.
If you would like to do so, or to find out more about what is involved, then do contact Lyn Richell.
