This year's one-acts - Plays 'n' Chips

We are delighted to welcome four new members who are all taking parts, together with Paul Stocker and Cheryl Connor who will be treading the boards for the first time since joining us. The rest of the parts in the three plays are being taken by existing members.
The play dates are Friday 31st August, Saturday 1st September, Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September in the evenings plus a matinee on Saturday 1st September and tickets cost £10.50 each, including supper at the evening performances and cream tea at the matinee.

Raffle Prizes
We have started collecting prizes for the raffles that we hold at each Plays 'n Chips performance. Any unwanted presents, boxes of chocolates, bottles of wine etc would be much appreciated. Our audiences are generous in supporting the raffle and as we have five performances with a raffle at each, we do need a rather large number of prizes.
If you are involved in rehearsals then you can bring up anything suitable and put on the bookcase at the far end of the rehearsal room. Otherwise you can bring up to the AGM anything that you can donate.

Annual General Meeting – Wednesday 4th July
Our AGM will take place at club night on Wednesday 4th July in the Red Barn. There will be plenty of time to socialise from 7.30pm and the AGM will start at 8pm.
Annual subs are due by the date of the AGM. You can send a cheque made out to the Broadstone Players and send it to Lyn Richell, 90 Sopers Lane, Poole, BH17 7EU or bring with you to the AGM.  The names of everyone who have paid by/at the AGM will be put into a draw and the first one drawn out will have their subs refunded. £20 or £15 for over 60s and full time students.

August club meeting - change of date – now Sunday 19th August

Our picnic at Upton House was to be on Weds 1st August, our normal Club Night. However we have changed the date as it is so close to the Firework Cruise.
The picnic will now be on Sunday 19th August from 3pm onwards on the front lawn at Upton House. Do bring along chairs, rugs, food and drink and any games you have which we could play on the lawn. You are very welcome to bring family with you.

September – no club night
As our club night would fall in between the two Plays'n' Chips weekends, we will not have a club night in September.

October club night
Our October club night will be on Thursday 4th October at 7.30pm in the Barn. As well as our social get-together we will have a ready of Funny Money, a Ray Cooney farce, which will be our February 2019 play.

Looking for more directors for 2020

All our directors are in place for the full length plays in 2019 and one for 2020. If you would be interested in directing a play in 2020 or 2021, can you let Lyn Richell know.

Suggestions for plays to perform

Do you have any suggestions for plays that we could perform in the future? We would love your ideas. We are not asking you to direct, or to take part, just for the names of plays that you have maybe seen and enjoyed or have heard people talking about. Perhaps something you might have been involved in at some point, somewhere.

Poole Harbour firework cruise on Thursday 26th July

Val has organised a cruise to see the fireworks on Thursday 26th July. We did this a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much. The 2 hour cruise costs £11.50. If you would like to go, please let Val know and she will also need your cheque, made payable to “Val Smith”. Partners very welcome too.
The last date to book and pay is Wednesday 4th July which is our AGM.. Val's email address is and her telephone number is 01202 660518.

Welcome to our new members

We warmly welcome four new members this month - Lesley James,  Peter Amos,  Chris Kemp and Michael Albinson – and hope that you will enjoy being a Broadstone Player.
