On Thursday 1st November the long awaited planning application by Tesco Stores to build a massive
Supermarket on the Brewery Field Bridgwater is finally registeerd after sitting in Sedgemoor District Council's IN TRAY for over a month while they ironed out 'technical difficulties'.

The plan is to build a massive Tesco Extra on the site of the forrmer Northgate Workhouse (pictured right) which will be demolished along with the Blake Hospital and Social Services buildings. The build programme would include further destruction of the Brewery field and the extension of the store front almost up to the gardens of adjoining properties.

Ward Councillors Brian Smedley & Kathy Pearce urge people to study the plans and to register their opposition during the planning process which will last in the first instance during the forthcoming month.

The planning application can be viewed on the Sedgemoor web site by clicking on the application numbers here.
