1967 earrings
1967 earrings
Glitz Lounge challenge – Birth Era Inspired Piece The one thing to say about earrings from 1967 (the year when yours truly saw the world for the first time) is that they were big. And I mean BIG. At least the ones I’ve found while researching jewellery fashion during the late 60s. I’ve seen earrings you wouldn’t believe. I’ve seen earrings half the size of a woman’s head. I’ve seen earrings stretching OVER the head, as if trying to reach the mate on the other side. And I’ve seen earrings going in EVERY direction with birds and flowers and bees. I’m so glad I wasn’t an adult during the late 60s. ;) That kind of earrings was of course not an option for me for the Glitz Lounge challenge. But, one thing many of them had in common was the black and white graphic touch. So – introducing the 1967 earrings. From elegant ear studs with black Spinel hang two circles on top of each other. Shaped in sterling silver wire and soldered closed before wrapped with hair thin sterling silver wire. One of the circles is filled with beautiful Moonstone and the other with gorgeous, sparkling Black Spinel. I’ve shaped the stones to a slight dome for extra texture and for a little extra of that 60s wow-pow-factor, I reversed the order of the colours on the second earring. Crazy… I know. ;) The 1967 drop approx 6 cm ( 2.4”) and they are just over 2 cm (0.8”) wide.
Pear Earrings
Pear Earrings
The shape of these earrings have been in my head for at least a year. I love the organic shape of a pear and I find it makes for a beautiful set of earrings! I hand cut the sterling silver "pear" shape out of sterling silver, then hammered it so that when I darkened the silver the texture would pop out in an evocative way. At the bottom I attached a beautiful beige Tahitian freshwater pear
