My name is Brian Lusher and I am currently a Junior in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. I have included my education and work experience on this site to help you get to know me and my abilities. I am currently a Product Development Engineering Intern for Amsted Rail Company Inc., Brenco in Petersburg, VA. With some desk responsibilities including updating drawings, part designs and file management within Autodesk Inventor, I have also had the opportunity to explore manufacturing processes of forging, heat treating, rubber seal production, and product testing. Below I have given a few points about what I have been up to recently.
- Spring 2013 - Present. This past spring I began working as the 2014 Team Leader for the Virginia Tech Battery-Operated-Land-Transport (BOLT) team. We are developing an electric motorcycle capable of racing over 100mph and work directly with companies to design and build each of our working components. Progress can be tracked on our Facebook page at VT BOLT
- Spring 2012 -Summer 2012. 8-month Co-op position at Graham-White Manufacturing where I did mostly design work using SolidWorks. Main work included developing a second prototype air compressor for the air brakes used in locomotives.
- Spring 2010 - Present. I took a year off of school in 2010 for the performance group Fighting Gravity, LLC. We are a blacklight dance illusion act that made it to the finale of America's Got Talent season 5 before going on a 25 city tour. My experience in developing a company during college and holding positions of leadership within our group have set me on a much more driven path for the future. More information is available on our Wikipedia page.
I am generally a laid back person but am a very hard worker. I like to take charge of groups to help achieve goals while also being a strong team player. I have written the pages at left to give more information about my participation on work and sports teams along with other interests that drive my personality and character.
