Our Nest
It's finally ours and we're earning our scars doing the "cosmetic" updates it needs.

The Gardells

Our Wedding

London

Welcome!!!

We're finally first time homeowners, and are quickly learning that design and DIY shows make it look WAY too easy. "Should" has become a curse word here...as in, if you say "this should be easy"...it won't. We have yet to see one project go smoothly and finish right the first time. But we're doing it together and with the help of family and friends. We're beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we're excited to see how it turns out.

So make take the tour and make yourselves at home!

Kitchen

(before)

(during)

We will be painting the cabinet walls "Cracker Bitz" by Olympic, and the other 2 walls and the hallway "Soft Ivory" from Olympic's Biltmore Estate line

To Do:

  • paint
  • create mail station

Living Room

(before)

(during)

There was a wall between the entryway and the livingroom that really closed it in...so we decided to make it a half wall.

Well, the half wall was very flimsy since apparently the wall wasn't original to the house...so what else was there to do but to tear the rest down?

and build a wall out of built in bookshelves?

We're still deciding between "Morning Sun" or "Soft Ivory" from Olympic's Biltmore Estate line for the living room and foyer. The bookshelves will be stained "Ebony" from ???

Done:

  • remove wall
  • installed overhead fan/light

To Do:

  • finish bookshelf/wall
  • paint
  • stain window
  • take up carpet
  • move in furniture
  • get Sean to stop laying on the bookshelf like in the picture...
