Welcome to the

The Bread of Life has been a positive influence in the Wichita and surrounding area for 23 years.  The purpose that burned in our hearts was to see that no one in this area went without food or clothing.  Our desire is to give those in need hope and encouragement by providing groceries and clothing, a kind word and a smile.
We started out very small in the fellowship hall of Living Word Outreach church.  Through the generosity of the members we began purchasing food.  Fifteen to twenty families a week were helped at first.  Our numbers have grown substantially and now we serve over 1,000 people weekly in our food and clothing facility.  Our special Thanksgiving Giveaway provides Thanksgiving fare or 3,000 - 5,000.

We have up to 40 volunteers a week who help to facilitate this work. They make a formidable task lots of fun.  "Many hands make light work."  Some of our volunteers have been here since the very beginning.  You might say they consider it their "baby."

Our hope is to one day see hunger eradicated.  It is so satisfying to see a persons life turned around because they have been given encouragement to dream again and a spark inside that they can succeed.
