"One of the greatest gifts we have as human beings is the potential to change and grow." - Alexia Isaak

This is a book filled with both inspiration and practical lessons drawn from real-life experience, shared woman-to-woman in a career mentoring relationship.

Author Alexia Isaak's achievement here is remarkable: the book itself embodies major themes of her mentor's lessons by "paying it forward" - to you!

For the better part of the last year, I have been constantly wondering what I have managed to accomplish with my life. The more I thought about it, the more the answers troubled me. I wasn't doing anything. I wanted to, but there was something holding me back. I had nothing to work for but an uncertain future. I had no motivation. Well...I am tired of that. I am tired of doing nothing. Tired of being in the same place I was yesterday, last week and last month. I have the motivation I need now. And she knows who she is :) I have to start moving forward. And I will. And in all honesty, that is the main reason I started 365. I knew that it would be able to help get me going...and so far, it has. By forcing myself to do this everyday (for 13 days so far) I am more inclined to make myself do other things that I need to. So this photo is to represent what I need to do (although it is far more than just reading books :P ) to get going and to make up for the time that I've lost. I don't know exactly where I am going at this point...but all I need to do right now is to start putting one foot in front of the other. Also, getting in shape is on my list of things that I will start doing...so I won't be this ridiculously skinny for long :P ---------- Took me a while to get this set up (being tired as always didn't help) and it took me a good deal of thinking to decide what pose was best. So I finally decided to actually make it look like I was reading. I think it turn out fairly well...although, I am noticing a recurring theme in my photos...there is a lot of white...too much white in my opinion...so I will do what I can in my upcoming shots to fix that. One thing I would have loved to change in this shot is to have a hardwood floor instead of the 15 year old carpet to use. But alas, there is no hardwood flooring in this house, so this will have to do. ---------- I am still the slightest bit sick...but I found out why...somehow, for nearly a week, I had been forgetting to take my allergy medication...so, while I actually got sick...my allergies have joined with the illness to keep me sick just a little bit longer...I have a feeling I will feel just fine tomorrow. Have a great night/evening/morning/afternoon/whatever it is for you right now/day!

13-08-2007 Lahore Pakistan. Students attend the Jamia Naeemia madrasa in Lahore. It is the biggest Koran school of the city with over 500 students. Around one third of the Pakistani youth is educated in Madrasas. For poor families it's a possibility to a free education. But also richer families often send their children for a year to a Koran school to learn about Islam. Madrasas are accused of recruiting and training members for Al Qaida or the Taliban. Most madrasas are just educational institutes that distance themselves from extremism. For girls a madrasa can even mean a way to emancipation, because an education can help them to find a job and financial independence.
