This website hosts support materials for my two courses, World Cultures—The Middle East (fall semester) and World Cultures—Russia and Central Asia (spring semester). It is to be used as a supplementary resource to the textbook, books, class handouts, etc. As students complete the course, the hope is to have them think about questions such as: why do we study what we study? To what extent is the information learned relevant to the present, to the learner? How and why does history evolve and change? Does an individual have any role in shaping the world around him/her? If so, what are the opportunities? If not, what are the obstacles? Can they be overcome? And these questions ultimately challenge us all to think about what learning history can be really about!
