Pruning & Planting in the Spring

 

Rachael from Dynamic Landscape will demonstrate how to prune trees and bushes and discuss plants to cultivate for a garden full of color.  Rachael will have plants available to purchase.

Julia Miller will discuss plants that will make your garden eco-friendly and herbs that will help other plants to function best in your eco-system. She will also talk about how to attract “garden helpers” and make your garden prosper.

Garden Design:  The S’s of Success
Garden designer:  Erica Bowman will discuss her methods for selecting perennials species using an easy to remember mnemonic.  When designing a garden, one must first perform a thorough site evaluation, then determine the garden’s style and shape.  Next the designer must install structure in the garden, to hold shape and interest for four seasons.  The final steps are species selection and evaluating plants by shade and color, size, shape, sustainability, species competition, and seasonality.

Annual Garden Tours   Come enjoy a wonderful evening visiting the special gardens of three of our members, all in Putney--Grace Amidon, Nancy Waterhouse, and Judy Wagenbach. We'll enjoy lemonade & cookies in Judy's garden at the end of the tour.

Annual Beach Party at Lake Spofford - Come swim, talk, and play!

Bring your bathing suit, beach toys, a

chair, towel, and food to share. If you

have a kayak bring that as well.

Kokedama  Carlene McCarty and Ann Newsmith will lead a workshop on this ancient Japanese art form that uses moss as a vessel to hold the roots of a plant. Learn  to create low-maintenance indoor container gardens that can be suspended in air or placed on a table.  Moss, soil mix and twine will be provided. Just bring your own house plants or ferns.

Nancy Renaud will lead this workshop on holiday wreaths and swags. Members will get to make one item, which the club will pay for, and a second or third item for a charge of $10.00 each.
