I mentioned some good trivia apps at practice yesterday to help spice up study time. My favorite of the bunch is QuizUp, which is available on the App Store and Google Play. While QuizUp can be accessed by logging into their website, this functionality seems to be limited to comparing scores and checking leaderboards. Students can sign up and create an account or log in with either their Facebook or Google+ profiles.
Unlike most trivia games, QuizUp allows you to challenge yourself and others in specific topic areas instead of the more standard potpourri of general knowledge. The app boasts over 700 topics, ranging from the academic (math, science, history) to entertainment (movies, video games). This approach makes this game doubly useful as we approach the Written Assessment exams, since students will be able to focus on individual subjects and the questions for both are multiple choice.
Points for correct answers are awarded based on how long it takes to pick the correct answer. Faster players earn more points than slower ones, making this perfect for snap decision making and reflex training.
I encourage all team members to download the app and add each other. I'm also available to get schooled by our students, and can be added by searching for my name.
