Welcome to the Molecular Biophysics Laboratory at UTSA. Our research activity focuses on the effects of photosensitizers on the structure and function of proteins.

We are interested in several applications of this concept in:

i.) molecular biophysics

ii.) biomedical research

iii.) synthetic biology

We employ an innovative combination of experimental techniques:

- optical spectroscopy  (fluorescence, circular dichroism, Raman, etc.);

- biochemical methods (mass spectrometry, advanced ultracentrifugation);

 and computational methods

- density functional theory;

- docking simulations;

- molecular dynamics simulations.
