"Tugboat Alley" rug hooking, designed and hooked by Deborah Groom
A recycling challenge to hook with items found in a thrift store garbage bag. It is approx. 20% hand dyed wool strips and the rest is a combination of yarns, t-shirts, sweatshirts, plastic bags, rubber gloves and even an aqua shoe! I designed as I hooked. I believe that rug hooking was the ultimate reuse, recycle craft and encourage any fiber artist to try working with thrift store garbage. They'll thank you.
this is a pice of rug hooking that I'm doing to make chair pads for my garden furniture. I'm working on a burlap coffee sack, using leftover yarn balls and some handspun for the background.
