Getting involved

The involvement of parents, carers and families in the life and work of a school is very important.  In Braehead Primary we want parents to be fully involved in not only their own child's learning, but where possible in the learning taking place across the whole school.  As you know 'working together' is very important in Braehead Primary because we believe that it results in happy pupils learning in a happy environment. We understand that some parents, carers or family members may become a little nervous when they think about coming to help in school but we want to change those feelings so that everyone feels confident, supported and valued for the work they do.  There are a number of ways you can help out in Braehead Primary and you can find out more about each below.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer helper and getting more involved in the life of the school please contact the school office or any member of staff. Volunteering in school can be very rewarding and could also lead to recognition for your work from the WDC volunteering team.

  • Do you have a special interest that you could share with our pupils?
  • Do you have skills in an area of the curriculum for example science, music, art, French or Spanish?
  • Do you have the time to become part of the Braehead family and help out with general activities for example, tooth-brushing or Soft Start?
  • Would you be able to provide extra knowledge or experience which could develop our topic work?
We know that everyone is very busy and trying to juggle the wide range of family tasks that must be completed can be very tricky but even having 30 minutes to spare would make a difference to the learning that takes place in Braehead Primary.

If you are interested but would like to know more about how to help in school or to tell us about a skills or interest you have please get in touch.  We really do want to hear from you!

Get involved with Active Schools!

The West Dunbartonshire Leisure Active Schools Team work closely with all of the schools in the local authority and are always looking to create more opportunities for children to be more active, more often.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic adults (parents/guardians or extended family members) to join our ever-growing network of volunteers and inspire the children and young people of West Dunbartonshire to get fit and have fun through extra-curricular sports clubs!

No previous skills or experience are required and full training and support will be provided through Active Schools

If you are interested and can spare even 1 hour a week to volunteer with Active Schools in Braehead Primary School or the local community please contact Claire Gregory, Active Schools Coordinator on 01389 753210 or email:
