Although small, this tiny mat-forming plant seeds itself around, and its existence is strongly witnessed if accidentally trodden on or bruised underfoot. It thrives in damp places in either full sun or in partial shade. Round, bright green leaves are about 1/8 inch in diameter. They look similar to moss and release a mint fragrance when touched. Small purple flowers in summer. The strongly scented leaves are used to flavor creme de menthe.

Found on the track at the Corsican Nuthatch trail. They're easier to photograph when they're dead! Corsican Treecreeper is a good candidate for splitting - that is, although currently treated as a subspecies of Eurasian Treecreeper, it may in future be treated as a full species in its own right.
