The Bands

Participation in any extracurricular activity at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Western Senior High is a privilege. Students aspiring to represent Poly and Western must demonstrate acceptable academic performance and behavior in order to participate in any activity. Any student receiving failing grades in two or more subjects during the most recent grading period will become ineligible for participation in extracurricular activities for the next grading period. Also, five absences or latenesses per quarter make a student ineligible for participation in the next quarter.  ABSOLUTELY NO MUSICAL OR INSTRUMENTAL EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. WE WILL TEACH YOU!

Combined Marching Band

The marching band is a musical marching unit organized from August to December, which includes the football season. Membership is open to all eligible students. It requires total dedication and maximum effort and involvement in all aspects of marching, playing and performance.

The marching band provides entertainment for home football games and several important parades both in and out of town. It performs annually before thousands of spectators at the Poly versus City Football Classic.

The marching band rehearses Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday weekly from 3:15 to 5:30. Two weeks before the Poly versus City Classic rehearsal time will be extended to 6:30. Some all day rehearsals will be scheduled on Saturdays.

Combined Pep Band
