What's up with the Boyle Heights Community Plan?
JANUARY 2014 UPDATE
The Boyle Heights Community Plan staff are in the process of finalizing maps and spreadsheets that show where all of our proposed land use and zone changes will be, the preliminary policies and programs of the plan, and the initial draft Community Plan Implementation Overlays (CPIO), which will be covering TOD Planning, neighborhood conservation, industrial land use, and tienditas. We feel that we have heard tremendous input from several organizations and stakeholders at large, and that the initial concepts of this plan are in great shape. Once these initial components have been finalized and are made presentable, we will organize workshops with the community as a last-round "temperature check" on the plan's project description. We hope to be able to accomplish this by Spring at the latest.
Following these workshops we will have a project description which will allow us to begin preparation of the plan's EIR, and assembly of all of the ordinances and technical documents. We call this our technical phase. Following the technical phase (which we hope to conclude by the end of 2014 or first quarter of 2015), we will begin our adoption process, which will involve a public hearing, and meetings with the CPC and City Council. Closer to that time we will again want to collaborate with stakeholder organizations on an effective and efficient outreach strategy.
Please feel free share this message with your neighbors and with members of your organization who are interested in the Boyle Heights Community plan. Please stay tuned for workshops this upcoming Spring!
