Bowburn Interchange was first published in December 1996. This followed a workshop on producing newsletters, organised by a community group called “Bowburn Village Celebration” (“BVC”). The team went on to produce the Interchange in years to come.
Before that, BVC had already produced an A4 newsletter, called BVC News, mainly about preparations for celebrating the 50th Anniversary of VE Day, in 1995, and associated events.
BVC is still the publisher of Bowburn Interchange.
The most recent editions are also available at Bowburn Interchange – past issues.
Please note that before no. 26 the Interchange was produced with different software and different fonts. The on-line versions of these do not, therefore, look identical to the originals. Many of the photographs are also of poorer quality in the on-line versions of these early editions.
Nos. 37 and following are in full colour; earlier ones were in black & white.
All pages were A3 in size until 2021. The format was then changed to A4.
We are grateful to all the local advertisers who have made regular publication of our newsletter possible since we began.
The Interchange is distributed throughout the Bowburn area – about 2,900 households, in 2021.
Hard copies of all editions are kept in Bowburn Library and in the History & Heritage Room at Bowburn Community Centre.
