This event is free and open to the public. No experience necessary to participate. Two days of singing from the 1991 edition of The Sacred Harp -- Books will be available for loan or purchase. The space is wheelchair accessible. Come sing with us!
The group that we form will comprise a breadth of identities related to age, religion (or lack thereof), gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnicity, education, ability, class, and political affiliations. We recognize that our tradition has historically given power to certain identities while marginalizing others. We aspire that this convention will enjoyable for all--built on consent, positive intent, and deep consideration for the impacts our words and actions have on others.
Co-Chairs: Deidra Montgomery & MB Gowins. Please contact us with any questions via facebook or email at sacredharpboston@gmail.com.
Lauren Bock and Jesse Karlsberg will be hosting a Town Hall to discuss the upcoming revision of the 1991 Sacred Harp immediately following the singing on Saturday at the same location as the singing.
The 1870 Town Hall is right off Rt. 495 in Berlin, MA
