BC Hockey Night and Grad Night Out
Friday, Feb. 7
Pizza at 5:30, Game at 7, Grad Night Out at Cityside following the game.
All tickets through the Graduate Student Association and the GNA are sold out, however, there are still tickets available through the BC Box Office.

Phlebotomy Workshop
Saturday Feb. 8 and Saturday Feb. 22, 9:00 am - 11:00 am in the lab on the 4th floor of Cushing.
$5 per person
Each workshop can accommodate 20 people.

Oral Cancer Awareness Walk
Chestnut Hill Reservoir

BC master's nursing students are taking blood pressures before the walk.  Come serve your community... and get a free t-shirt and some Dunkin Donuts!

Alcohol Screenings
Help pass out t-shirts, greet students, score the surveys, recruit students from the dining halls, etc. Students participating in the screen will be stopping by at any time during the below dates and times and will be asked to answer 10 questions about their use or non-use of alcohol.  They will be given a score and will meet briefly with a staff member to discuss what their score means and strategies for reducing any risks associated with their current style of drinking (if applicable).  Participation will take approximately 15 minutes and desserts and refreshments will be available!  All participants will also receive a free T-shirt!

Healthy You Year 3 Campaign ~ Biometric Screenings

Dates: April 11th ~ 7:00~10:00 am, Brighton Campus, 2101 Commonwealth Ave.

            The university has kicked off year 2 of the Healthy You campaign. As many may remember, students from the Connell SON (undergrad and grad) were instrumental in assisting with the on-campus health screenings (BP, height, weights, BMI) at previous year’s health screenings. 

            Students are encouraged to sign-up.  Contact the teacher of record for your specialty regarding credit for clinical hours for volunteering.  Any questions?  Contact Ketura’h Edwards, Community Service Chair of the GNA (bcgradnurses@gmail.com).

Grad Pride Alliance…

            Are you looking for a community at BC of LGBTQ and Ally graduate students? Do you want to get more involved? The Grad Pride Alliance (GPA) is looking for students to assist and continue in their efforts to build this growing graduate group at BC for LGBTQ and Allies.  There are two positions open: Secretary and Treasurer. If you are interested, please read the more detailed descriptions of each position below. Then, email bcgradpride@gmail.com to let us know that you want to get more involved! 

            All executive board members work together to plan social and educational events for LGBTQ and ally students at BC. The Secretary is responsible for maintaining the facebook page, gmail account, and recording minutes at business meetings. The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the GPA budget, as well as all other financial matters. The treasurer is also required to attend a GSA treasurer's meeting in the beginning of the school year.

Graduate C.A.R.E. Week Committee…

April 8-12, 2013

            Are you interested in getting involved? Do you want to participate in programming?  Join the Graduate C.A.R.E. Week Committee

            The WRC holds Concerned About Rape Education (C.A.R.E.) Week during the spring semester of every year, which focuses on raising awareness about sexual assault and intimate partner violence on and off campus.

Programs aim to educate students and provide resources about the following:

The prevalence of sexual assault and rape on college campuses

The definition of consent

Ways to recognize and navigate unhealthy relationships

How to help a friend who survived a sexual assault

Deconstructing the stigma associated with survivors of sexual assault

How to be a proactive bystander

            Throughout the week, students are informed about the on-campus resources available to them from SANet (Sexual Assault Network), Boston College Police Department, University Counseling Services, University Health Services, and the Women’s Resource Center.

            C.A.R.E. Week will be held this year on the week of April 8 - 12, 2013.
