Ferrella March is an Environmental Programs Manager with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in Oklahoma City, Ok where she participates in regulatory and enforcement issues.  She has a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma under Dr. Caryn Vaughn.  Her thesis focused on temporal and spatial differences of larval Chironomidae communities in lake Texoma, Oklahoma. She has studied aquatic macroinvertebrates and their role in aquatic ecosystems for over ten (10) years.  She was an environmental specialist for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board during which time she assessed stream habitat and their beneficial uses for inclusion into the Oklahoma Water Quality Standards.  In her previous position at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, she investigated pollution events, fish and wildlife kills, and collaborated with state, federal, academic and private entities in resolving complex environmental issues.  Such issues included freshwater mussel vulnerability to contaminants, toxic effects of municipal and industrial discharges on freshwater mussels, Tar Creek superfund site, and harmful algal blooms.
