The Bordeaux University GIO 2014 international workshop, on the
Geometry of Information and Optimization, will be held on the 4th and 5th of December. It will take place at the IMS laboratory, (Amphithéâtre Jean-Paul Dom). This workshop is supported by the CPU cluster of excellence, and organized by the Signal and Image processing group of the IMS laboratory.

The GIO workshop aims to provide participants and audience with an up-to-date, lively, and accessible picture of ongoing research in the fields of
information geometry, geometry of optimization, optimization on manifolds, statistics on manifolds, and their interaction with signal and image
processing.

This year's GIO will feature five plenary talks, one hour each, which will be accompanied by poster sessions. Plenary speakers are the following,
  • Frédéric Barbaresco (Thales Air systems)
  • Giovanni Pistone (Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Torino)

Manton (The University of Melbourne)
  • Pierre-Antoine Absil (University of Louvain)
  • Xavier Pennec (INRIA Sophia Antipolis)
By providing participants with a friendly environment, where interaction can take place between leading experts from academia and industry, as well as young researchers and students, the GIO 2014 workshop will hopefully generate new collaborations and opportunities.
