Harvey - Jimmy Stewart stars as a man whose friend is a six foot tall rabbit, a pooka named Harvey.

National Velvet - This movie stars a very young Elizabeth Taylor and an equally young Mickey Rooney.

Black Beauty - This movie is very similar to the book and the story is told from the perspective of the horse.

Heidi - More than one version exists.  I prefer the one with Shirley Temple.
