Painless Fundraising!

We are making great effort to earn money in “painless” ways. This means that we are finding ways to earn money for our school without putting financial burdens on our families. You can support our fundraisers by:
Feeding our Box Top robots with Box Tops!
Signing up for Macey’s Perks program
Supporting Thompson Orthodontics’ “We Pay For A’s”
Coming out to eat at Family Restaurant Nights
You can visit the PTA website for links and details.

Online Calendar

Did you know that you can add the school's events automatically to your Google Calendar? Open and log into your Google Calendar online. Go to the School's Calendar page on the school web site. At the bottom right of the calendar, find and click the "Google Calendar" icon. When it asks if you would like to add the "Bonneville Public" calendar, select YES! Our computer specialist, Pam Hyer, keeps that calendar up to date and you’ll always be aware of school events!

What Does PTA do for Bonneville?

PTA volunteers run Reflections, the Storytelling Festival, Come Read With Me, Family Week, the Home Reading Program, Red Ribbon Week, Teacher Appreciation, the Student Council, and more. PTA also financially supports many of the school’s programs such as the school play, the Maturation Assembly, NOVA, Battle of the Books, and the STEAM fair, among others.
If you would like to volunteer to help with programs at Bonneville, there is always a way you can help … switching Home Reading Books, providing food for SEP Luncheons, serving as a room parent, making flyers, and so many other things. We have set up an account at SignUpGenius to make it easier for parents to volunteer in a way that suites their situations and schedules. Watch for links in upcoming weekly emails for opportunities to sign up for specific school programs and events.

Family Activities

The PTA is dedicated to strengthening families. Check in the monthly newsletters this year for activities to help your family learn and grow together. Once your family completes the activity, your child (or children) can enter their name(s) in a drawing in the office to win prizes at the end of the year. Look right here for the Family Activity section in each newsletter!

Outstanding Educator

Each year, the PTA honors teachers as part of their Outstanding Educator program. This year, we have chosen two teachers.

Ryan Radebaugh (better known as Mr. Rad), currently teaches 6th grade and has served as the student council rep for many years. He sets up all of the sound systems for school programs, makes the great videos we see during the Christmas concert, helps organize the running route for the annual Fun Run, and more. This year he pioneered the Spelling Bee and it was a great success. Mr. Rad is a teacher who makes learning fun and interesting. His upbeat attitude, fun jokes, storytelling, and personal experiences add to each lesson and make for a great rapport with his students.

Roberta Jacobsmeyer, or Miss J. as she is more commonly known, has been a teacher at Bonneville for 20 years. She is currently teaching Kindergarten, but has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Miss J has a wonderful way of loving all of the students she comes in contact with. Many times she will be seen eating lunch with her students because they are sad, attending birthday parties, and going to church with them. Miss J has been a great advocate for the PTA, helping with translating, finding volunteers, and promoting PTA sponsored programs. She is currently running a fundraiser to help raise money for children with Leukemia. For many years she ran the school chorus. She is a much-loved teacher and countless times you will see previous students stopping by to say high and give her hugs. Recently the students were asked to write down their favorite thing about Miss J and the numerous students wrote about her hugs and that she loves them.

Family Week is May 1st through 5th

Watch for your children to bring home activities to do as a family to help strengthen and support each other. And be sure to mark on your calendar that Wednesday, May 3rd is Family Lunch day, when aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. are invited to come and eat lunch with their students! A flyer is coming home explaining all the details, but be sure to let your family members know so they can plan to attend.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your support of our PTA’s “Painless Fundraising” program this year —the family restaurant nights, the AmazonSmile donations, Box Top collections, and more. With your help, we were able to carry out our programs without any candy bar selling or other fundraisers that put financial strain on our families. We appreciate you!

If you are interested in volunteering at Bonneville next year—as a room parent, with an event, switching books, translating flyers, or any number of other possibilities, please email BonnevilleParents@gmail.com and let us know how you would like to be involved.

Feed our Box Top Bots!

Box Tops are due no later than February 24th to be included in the next shipment. Did you know that Box Tops expire? If the expiration date has passed, they will not give us money for them. Please check!

Reflections Winners!

Congratulations to Emma Walters and Cody Bilbao. Their work has advanced to the State level in the Reflections program!

Book Fair is Almost Here!

You can preview the book fair online at www.Scholastic.com/fair.  Accounts are easy to set up and family and friends can order online from February 1-14th. The books will be delivered to the school and passed on to your students (or be held for pickup if preferred).  It’s a great way to see all the books that are offered rather than just those available at the fair.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is under way!! The battles will begin on March 1st and run for about two weeks. Each battle is held in a classroom or the Library from 11:50-12:05.  Parents and community members are welcome to come watch this double-elimination tournament. Final battles will take place in the Library and the winning team will face off against the teacher team in a school wide assembly. Keep calm and read on!!

Volunteers Needed!

There are many ways you can volunteer! Here are a few ideas:
~ Sew costumes for the school play! Patterns and materials will be provided, and you can work at home.
~ Home Reading Books! We could use a couple more volunteers on Wednesday mornings from 9:20-10:00 on the cafeteria stage.

Watch for signup sheets at SEP Conferences to see more ways you can help!

Food Sharing Table

Did you know that our school has a food sharing table in the cafeteria? Food that is not eaten (store-bought packaged food and cafeteria-provided food) can be left on the table for other students. Let your children know that they are welcome to choose something from the table if they are still hungry. For the safety of the students, we are not able to share home-made food.

Bonneville’s Unsung Heroes

Mrs. Dorothy Schubert is not a classroom teacher, but makes the school a better place by helping wherever she’s needed. She makes most of the photocopies, watches the lunchroom, fills in for the secretaries, and watches the kids that need extra attention in the LRR. Thank you Mrs. Schubert!

Mr. Borwegen, or Travis, as known by the kids and staff, is the school's head custodian. He gets to do all the “fun” stuff like setting up chairs and tables for events, cleaning up a variety of messes, locking the building up after evening functions, and unplugging the toilets. He always does it with a smile. He knows the kids and helps to keep our school clean and safe. Thank you Travis!

Family Restaurant Night at Chick-Fil-A

The December Family Restaurant night is coming up on Tuesday, December 13th. This month we are going to Chick-Fil-A. Thank you so much for your support in November. With your help, and the hard work of the student council, we earned $784 from Culver’s!

You may need to sync the calendars on your electronic device before it appears there. Our computer teacher, Pam Hyer, keeps that calendar up to date and you’ll always be aware of school events!
