Located in the west side of Bolivia, La Paz is the administrative capital of Bolivia and capital of the department of that name, La Paz has an average temperature of 8 degrees Celsius (46.4 degree Fahrenheit), La Paz has a mountain climate with dry and cold winters with occasional snowfalls and cool summers due to the rains.

 

It has a population of approximately 1, 552,156 inhabitants at 3,650  meters above sea level (11,976 feet). The city is set on the banks of the river Choqueyapu crossing from west to east, and small rivers that originate in the upper slopes and deposit the water along the route of this river.

 

Bolivia is located in the southern hemisphere and so the cold season (autumn and winter) go from May to September and the hot season (spring and summer) from October to April, its also considered the rainy season.

Best season to visit La Paz

 

The dry season is best time to travel to La Paz (from May to October) due to the better road conditions, generally sunny skies and warm temperatures during the day but cold during the night.

 

Travel to most regions of Bolivia is certainly possible year round, but you have to have in mind that during the rainy season (December to March) normally some dirt roads become flooded and it could take sometime until tractors clear them.
