What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a unique ancient healing art, a form of natural healing that is both a science and an art. The science lies in the principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and the feet which correspond to all parts of the body. The art is in the unique technique applied to the reflex areas by the thumbs and fingers.

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that treats the feet or hands to benefit the whole body.   It aims to restore balance by increasing circulation to the internal organs, glands and other parts of the body.

Reflexology works with subtle energy flows. It revitalises the body so that the natural healing mechanisms of the body can do their own  work.

Benefits of reflexology:
  • Reducing stress, physical tension and inducing deep relaxation

  • Improving circulation

  • Cleansing the body of toxins and impurities

  • Balancing the whole system

  • Revitalising energy

  • Is a preventative health care

  • Pain relief

By generating a deep, tranquil, relaxation reflexology helps the body to balance itself and allow healing energy to flow smoothly and gently throughout the body. A treatment stimulates 7000 nerves, encouraging the opening and clearing of neural pathways

By reducing stress and tension it allows the blood to flow freely. Stress and tension tighten up the cardio-vasular system and restrict blood flow, which prevents the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the cells and the removal of waste products and toxins.

By stimulating the lymphatic system; which helps improve the body's defences and encourages better immunity.

By bringing about homeostasis - a process that maintains the stability of the human body's internal environment in response to changes in external conditions.

By relaxing and opening up energy pathways, reflexology revitalises the body and supplies it with renewed energy

By balancing the body and generating a feeling of well being

By stimulating endorphins - the body's own natural painkiller.
