Rules & Guidelines
Gardener in Good Standing
Bock Gardeners will earn the status of “Gardener in Good Standing” by:
Being respectful of the garden, other gardeners, the Garden Board, the Conservancy and the surrounding neighborhood
Adhering to the Bock Community Garden’s Rules and Regulations
Planting, caring for and maintaining their individual plot in accordance with these rules and guidelines
Monthly Assessments: Having no more than two consecutive “Poor” Overall plot status ratings and/or three consecutive assessments requiring follow up action (specified by email) that is not addressed by the gardener.
Fulfilling the volunteer work session requirement
Gardeners who fail to meet all four criteria during a given garden season will lose their “good standing” status and will not be allowed to retain their garden plot the following season.
Commitment to Community
Bock Garden is committed to building a growing and thriving community. As a part of that commitment, gardeners are expected to act respectfully to all gardeners and visitors to the garden, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, cultural practices or personal opinions.
Gardeners are encouraged to document any instance of harassment by submitting and email to the Bock Community email account, where reports will be considered at the following Board meeting. Instances of harassment include but are not limited to antagonistic language or behavior toward other gardeners or visitors of the garden, targeted emails to gardeners' personal email accounts, and any behavior that hinders other gardeners from partaking in normal garden activities.
Reports submitted to the Bock Garden email will undergo a period of investigation and assessment, during which the Garden Board will consider evidence to the best of its ability and determine whether the gardener(s) in question should be given a warning, which will count against that specific gardener’s “good standing” status. Each gardener will get two such “warnings” related to disrespect and harassment. A third incidence will result in the gardener(s) in question being asked to leave the garden .
In instances in which member(s) of the garden feel physically threatened or report incidents of gross harassment -- verbally or in writing -- from another Bock gardener(s), the Board will gather information and, if necessary, vote on whether the gardener(s) in question should be asked to leave the garden indefinitely. A gardener found to be making a false or unsubstantiated accusation against another gardener will also be considered an incident of gross harassment.Only gardeners who have met all four criteria will be considered in good standing during the current garden season and will be invited to retain their garden plots in the following garden season.
