Education

My education in brief:

Oct, 2009 — presently — PhD student at Moscow State University, department of Foreign Languages and Regional Studies (so happy about it!)

Nov — Dec, 2008 Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language. Certificate

2006-2007 - Grinnell College, IA, USA (took optional courses as a Fulbright Language Assistant)

2000-2005 - Biysk Shukshin Teacher Training State University, Biysk, Altaysky Kray, Russia (Diploma with distinctions)

1. I got my Diploma of a Specialist at Biysk Shukshin Teacher Training State University. There I studied how to teach English and German, so I can say, my major was teaching foreign languages, though we do not really have majors in Russian Universities.

My major achievements during the years of study:

June 24, 2005 - Diploma with honors

March 26, 2005 - Diploma for the Best Pronunciation Skills awarded at the department contest of best acting and phonetic skills

March 26, 2005 - our group got Grand Prix at the department contest of best acting and phonetic skills

April 23, 2004 - Diploma for the Best Report at the "University Day of Schience". Report on "Creative Methods of Teaching Vocabulary. Memorizing Techniques"

March 29, 2003 - Diploma for the Best Pronunciation Skills awarded at the depertment contest of best acting and phonetic skills (For reciting Hamlet's Soliloquy)

2.After the University I worked intensively for a year and then got a Fulbright grant to work as a Russian Language Teaching Assistant in the USA. There I worked at Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA, and I also got a chance to take some courses:

German 310, German Conversation, Arabic 102 (2 semesters), American History

As I was mainly working there, I was much more focused on my work. Please, see My Working Experience for my achievements at Grinnell College.

3. When I got back to my home country, I felt that I can teach Russian as a foreign language, but I needed some stable background, so I chose one of the best universities that teach foreigners to speak Russian in an amazingly short time. Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Great place to be even if you are just visiting.

4. Dreams come true. I have always wanted to pursue a PhD degree, and I wanted it because of my interest in what I am doing rather than just because of a degree itself. Efective October 1 I am a PhD student of Moscow State University, Department of Foreign Languages and Regional Studies, Chair of Linguistics and ICT.

Hopefully, I will finish writing my thesis within 3-3.5 years! What's next? ;-)
