Jewels pocket watches : Crochet watch cap.
Pocket Watch macro
2nd in the "Treasures of a Steampunk Jeweller" series. aka: what's hiding in my drawers ;) I thought I would share some photos of my "supplies" that will eventually become (perhaps) part of my next jewelry project. The steel "gears" on this piece are quite rusty, but the shine.. oh the shine! it's beautiful... breathtaking! this will likely become some jewelry on etsy. The little "fingers" hide gears beneath, and the jewels are still intact. Some pocket watches are just mechanical images of beauty! come say hello on twitter - and if you would like a finer copy (larger too) of this image, let me know - twitter's a good place to find me these days - same name... lol.. clockworkzeroBalance
I've been interested in old pocket watches and antique clocks for years. Juanita's mom has this Dufonte/Lucien Piccard 17 jewel watch that she let me play around with and of course take pictures of. I thought this was the escapement, but after more research this looks to be the balance. In the center is 1 of the 17 jewels which are used to prevent wear on metal to metal moving parts. For this picture I used my Nikon D40 with my 55-200mm lens, at the end of that I reversed my new 50mm 1.8 with a macro coupler.
