Life Cycle

Life Cycle: Blue Whales Breed close to the surface in warm waters during winter and early spring. They make noises or "sing" to find a mate. The Blue Whale reproduces in the same way as humans. The gestation period is about 11-12 months. Usually, one whale is born at a time as twins are extermely rare. Like all mammals, the calf is weaned and drinks around 50-200 pounds of milk a day for 7-8 months. Overall, the Blue Whale lives about 35-40 years.
