Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage Copycat Recipe

These breakfast sausage patties are so delicious, juicy and full of flavor!  This recipe makes 9 thick patties.

NOTE:  If you’re planning to make breakfast “egg,sausage and cheese biscuits”, make these sausage patties half as thin (making 15-18 patties)… just in case you actually want to fit it in your mouth. ;)

What you’ll need:

1 lb. ground pork

1 tsp. ground ginger

1 1/4 tsp. Kosher salt

1 1/4 tsp. dried sage

1/4 tsp. ground cayenne

1 1/4 tsp. fresh ground pepper

1 1/2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup (the real stuff)

Dash Hickory Smoke seasoning

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

3/4 tsp. dried parsley

1/8 tsp. dried thyme

1/4 tsp. dried coriander

1/2 tsp. dried oregano

Fat of choice for frying patties (I prefer a tasty bacon fat)

Method:

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl… go ahead and use your fingers to make sure it’s all distributed through.  Heat a heavy skillet over med to med-high heat.  Form patties into discs and flatten…  (remember if your putting on a biscuit with egg and cheese you’ll want to make them thinner).  Slowly brown on both sides until beautifully golden and cooked through.

Enjoy!!!! These are delightful served up alongside a nice stack of homemade pancakes, french toast or eggs… or maybe you want to crumble this up and make an egg casserole… or make some flaky homemade biscuits and top with cheese, one cooked egg and a juicy biscuit!  Oh yum.. .I’m getting hungry just typing this.
