Isabella & George Blight

Isabella Mary Dixon was born December 6, 1868 in West Nissouri Township, Middlesex County, Ontario and died December 9, 1945 in Oakville, Manitoba.  She married George Blight on January 26, 1891 in West Nisouri Township, Middlesex County, Ontario.  He was born December 2, 1866 in Merton, North Devon, England and died June 1, 1935 in Oakville, Manitoba.

Isabella was an above average scholar and earned an academic award in Grade 8 after examinations.

Isabella adapted to pioneer life in Manitoba and was very active in all organizations which had the advancement and betterment of the community as their object.  She was an active member of the Methodist church.  She was the first organist in the church when a church was built.  When a Ladies Aid Society was organized, she was one of the first members and for several years president.  After church union, she was president of the United Ladies Aid for several years and was one of the Honorary Presidents at the time of her death.  She was also one of the Lady Directors on the Portage Fair Board.  Click here for Isabella's family information.
