Longer Coal Trains

We've all noticed the carrier building 10 and 12K bare tables lately and providing a Form C in the GTB's as a way to make them exempt from the rules. As of yesterday, it was confirmed by the Superintendent of Gallup JJ Orr that the company will now try to double up coal empties at Springerville when two coal buckets are close to each other at the plant. There is nothing that prevents them from doing this in the agreement or the rules, the General Chairman's office also agrees with this assessment. Make sure to have updated rules with you at all times and verify these new monsters against your current SSI and ABTH. If they are out of compliance, instruct the DS as to why. Safety concerns for those operating them need to be logged immediately with the SIRP. Details are the key, so be specific when explaining why they are unsafe to be in that configuration. This practice is becoming common across the system in a way to cut crew starts and save money.
