I just wanted to make sure you were all aware of the following important documents recently made available.  I have downloaded them but I have not yet read them all the way through.  I am sure they will impact our work in the coming years. Possible agenda items for 2016!

  1. DRAFT of the NEW Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DL&CS) Standards  (http://www.doe.mass.edu/boe/docs/fy2016/2015-12/item6.html),  There are 4 strands:  Computing and Society, Digital Tools and Collaboration, Computing Systems, and Computational Thinking.
  2. The NEW National Education Tech Plan (http://tech.ed.gov/files/2015/12/NETP16.pdf), titled Future Ready Learning: Reimagining the Rise of Technology in Education.
  3. The new Federal Every Child Achieves Act (https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/senate-bill/1177), which replaces NCLB. ECA This bill was signed into law on December 10th.  Here is an article from the NEA: http://neatoday.org/2015/12/09/every-student-succeeds-act/

The bill provides states with increased flexibility and responsibility for developing accountability systems, deciding how federally required tests should be weighed, selecting additional measures of student and school performance, and implementing teacher evaluation systems.
