Queer Eye for the Straight Guy : The Fab 5's Guide to Looking Better, Cooking Better, Dressing Better, Behaving Better, and Living Better
Imagine this: Five eminently stylish and hilariously witty gay men -- authoritative experts in food and wine, grooming, decorating, fashion, and culture -- invade your life, assess your strengths and weaknesses, and, in the course of a day, make you better dressed, better groomed, better mannered, and a better cook, living in a better home. All of this is painless (unless you have a really egregious body-hair situation), liberating, and downright fun.
This is what Queer Eye for the Straight Guy does each week on one of the hottest TV shows in memory, as the Fab 5 -- Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley, and Jai Rodriguez -- turn an everyman frog into an every-girl's-dream prince. And this is what the book offers: the essential "make better" advice from each of the Fab 5. Just like the show, the book focuses on easy but lasting lifestyle transformation -- the tasks, the projects, the modest purchases, and, most important, the new attitudes that immediately make a noticeable difference.
From Kyan's instructions on how often to wash your hair to Carson's explanation of why shirts are the new ties, from Ted's strategies for ordering wine and Thom's suggestions on a better bathroom to Jai's hints on shaking hands, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is filled with clear, direct advice on the issues that confront every man. But Queer Eye doesn't try to make you dress like Carson or dance like Jai; it's about teaching you how to refine your own personal style, without throwing away your entire closet and buying a whole new everything. It's about helping you realize the best expression of yourself -- the real you.
Queer Eye introduces men to the rewards that women -- and a lot of gay men -- have long reaped by thinking about the day-to-day details that make them look better, feel better, and get more out of life. Many straight men have long felt that these subjects are not for them. Nothing could be sillier. In this book, the Fab 5 sets them straight (so to speak).
35/365 - these eyes are tired
You have no idea. I got up today at 6.30am. I had the fastest shower in the world, got in my school uniform and caught the 7.40am bus to college. 9am I had three hours of exams back to back. I got such bad cramp in my hand that I couldn't have it in any position other than that of writing!! It was awful! But the exam went ace, I wrote 22 pages for that. Then I had an hour for lunch which I'd forgotten, no water, no toilet break (I was being supervised by a guy who couldn't come into the ladies room), then another 3 hours of back-to-back philosophy exams. I finished at 4.30pm, got home at 5.30, went to the loo (i was sooo desperate) and had literally one minute to take my 365 because I was getting picked up for work in 5 minutes - then found my camera had no battery!! So used my old macro one. Took this, got changed in super speed, hopped in the car and went to work. Work was sooo busy, I hadn't eaten so my boss forced me to eat a meal (bless her soul) so I had my first ever steak! I got home 15 minutes ago. I. Am. Shattered. But I am happy <3 I felt like I was on fire in the first 3 exams. Greek Epic was awesome, Greek Tragedy was awesome too, epistemology was fantastic, moral ethics not so much but I still wrote 7 pages in an hour, and Plato was just such a doddle that I had 20 minutes to spare at the end, so I rambled on another two pages or so about forms and politics. Somewhere in my essay on utilitarianism I started talk about cats not thinking about cats that are less fortunate than them. And turkies. I am not too sure why. Lets hope whoever marks it has a good sense of humour!!!
UPDATE: He is mine now! Unforgettable Little Blue-Eyed Boy Cat ~ I just adopted him ~ His name is now Cerulean
I think I am in love with this little guy. I'll have to double check, but I think he is about 7 months to one year in age. Fluffy tail, soft smooth coat, all white with pink skin. I may go see if he would make a good companion for Montana and Me. UPDATE afternoon of March 9, 2007: I was at Heartland Humane Society promptly at noon today and I adopted this little guy. He is about a year old, and has meduim long white soft fur. His name was Legolas. I just changed it to Cerulean, because I like it better and it denotes his fabulous blue eyes. He and Montana are getting to know each other under a door. They told me at the humane society to take the introduction to each other slowly. I just have a good feeling that it is going to go fine. I feel sort of like a new mommy; well, not exactly, but you get the idea. He is a little purring machine. When I say little, he is not tiny. He is about 9 pounds. But Montana is probably 13 pounds or even more by now; so compared to Montana, he is little. I just hope they will be great brothers for each other, and they both will adore me. LOL No doubt, I'll have to start a fan club for Cerulean. Delina P.S. I just did in very late April 2007. For snap Game on June 21, 2007, my snap is from a cat with a cute pink nose to a really closeup of a cat with a pink nose. For ABCs & 123s group pool,. you might think this C is for Cat, but I've got lots of those for another time. This Particular C is for Cerulean (pronounced Sir-roo-lee-ehn; and he is named that because of the pretty blue eyes he has).

Is your sex life perfect?" challenges Laura Corn in the introduction to her delightful and unique 101 Nights of Grrreat Sex. If the title, with its guarantee of "grrreat sex twice a week, every week, for one full year!" won't tempt you, the packaging will.
"Is your sex life perfect?" challenges Laura Corn in the introduction to her delightful and unique 101 Nights of Grrreat Sex. If the title, with its guarantee of "grrreat sex twice a week, every week, for one full year!" won't tempt you, the packaging will. Like the cover says, "Go ahead, tear this book up.... please!" Intriguingly packaged, 101 Nights is reminiscent of the book-in-plain-brown-wrapper, except in this case each page is sealed; no peeking! Once a week, according to 101's instructions, each lover picks a sealed page (with scenarios such as "Up Against the Wall," "Angel with a Lariat," "Fire down Below," and "Point of No Return") and tears it out of the book, keeping it a secret. Follow the scenario and, throughout the week, expect any number of erotic surprises.
We let life get in the way of love, Laura Corn states, and worries in the way of wonder. At the heart of this book is the assertion that surprise and anticipation rekindle passion: "This is not like some new diet, where you're expected to simply change your lifestyle overnight. Here, you'll learn by doing--slowly, gradually, month by month. And because you're doing it often--every week, remember, for a whole year--you'll actually turn interesting, exhilarating, unpredictable sex into a habit, and not just a special event."
There are 50 secret seductions written for his eyes only and 50 written for hers. His seductions begin with playful ways of not just getting her in the mood, but making her breathless with anticipation. Hers begin with the revelation of "Marilyn Monroe's sensual bedroom secret that drove her lovers wild (and caused JFK's toes to curl!)."
All it takes is a commitment to play and, well, to tear up the book. 101 Nights does all the rest, including lists of ingredients (massage oil, silk scarf, champagne, etc.) as well as terse tips culled from 54 of the bestselling books in the field. Loaded with recipes for licentious loving, 101 Nights of Grrreat Sex gives lovers permission to sin with the safety of a script and a fun way to palpate the old passion.
