GROUNDS AND BUILDINGS: The largest indoor meeting capacity at Blandy is 50 people. Facilities listed in green are available for scheduling according to the terms of our Facilities Use Policy. Please note that the Parkfield Learning Center and the Peetwood Pavilion may only be reserved in accordance with our mission, and by special permission. See below for details.

To reserve the facilities: First, please read the complete Facilities Use Policy. Reservation requests must be made by submitting our reservation form. Click here to open the form in a new window. Once the completed form has been received and fees paid, the reservations will be confirmed by the Facilities Use Coordinator.

Front Entrance

The State Arboretum of Virginia: The 170-acre arboretum is open at no charge to the public, from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. The arboretum is a botanic garden to be appreciated both aesthetically and intellectually. The arboretum is not to be used as an athletic field, for barbecues, or for purposes that are considered to be inconsistent with the educational and research mission of the institution. Visitors in the arboretum should conduct themselves in a manner that does not interfere with the experience of other visitors or researchers. Permission to use the arboretum grounds for purposes other than visitation may be secured through the Director. Use of the arboretum grounds for solicitation of funds, fund-raising activities, and political activities is not permitted. Dogs are welcome but they must be on leash within 200 feet of all buildings and under voice control at greater distances; owners are expected to clean up after their pets. Pet waste stations are located at the main parking lot and the rear parking area on the Loop Drive.

The Quarters

The Quarters: A historic landmark, this building contains administrative offices, a gift shop, library, dining room, kitchen facilities, wheelchair-accessible public restrooms, and overnight accommodations for up to 24 people. The herbarium and laboratories are not available for public use. Throughout the year, students, staff, and researchers who are visiting or in residence at Blandy Experimental Farm have access to the library and kitchen facilities even when they are in use by other groups. Library

Library: 50 chairs, set up lecture style, is a comfortable fit. The maximum capacity of the room is 50. There are 2½ ' x 6’ tables available. Each seats six comfortably (seven or eight if the ends are used). There is also one oak table, 3’4 x 7’, a lectern and a projection wall.
$100/day, $50/4 hours or less.

Dining Room

Dining Room: Located in the west wing of the Quarters, the dining room can also be reserved for smaller groups. 15 to 20 people can be comfortably seated.
$50/day, $25/4 hours or less.
Dorm Room

Dorm Rooms: Four beds each in rooms A, B, C, D, J, K, L.  No linens are provided in the dorm rooms. There is no air conditioning or television, and bathroom space is limited – the bathrooms are not in or next to the rooms, but each bath is equipped with a shower and tub.  Dorm rooms are not available from May 1st through August 31st of each year.
 $10/person/night.
Kitchen

Kitchen: Standard kitchen equipment is provided, including basic utensils. There are flatware/dinnerware, utensils, and dishes to serve 15 people. Baking pans are limited. No table linens are provided, and there is very limited refrigerator space. Students, staff, and researchers have around the clock access to the kitchen.
$50/day, $25/4 hours or less.
Parkfield Learning Center
Parkfield Learning Center

Parkfield Learning Center: Originally constructed as an apple packing shed, the Parkfield Learning Center (PLC) is the primary facility for educational activities. The PLC has a maximum occupancy of 40, is wheelchair accessible, and has a lighted walkway, a small kitchenette, and a restroom. The Parkfield Learning Center can only be reserved in accordance with the mission of Blandywith permission from the Facilities Use Coordinator and/or Director. To initiate your request, please submit the Reservation Form and someone will contact you.
$100/day, $50/4 hours or less.

Peetwood Pavilion

Peetwood Pavilion for Environmental Education: Located east of the main parking lot, this pavilion is primarily used as an outdoor educational facility. It contains picnic tables and two bathrooms.The Peetwood Pavilion can only be reserved in accordance with the mission of Blandywith permission from the Facilities Use Coordinator and/or Director. To initiate your request, please submit the Reservation Form and someone will contact you. 
$50/day, $25/4 hours or less. 
Margaret Byrd Stimpson Amphitheater

Margaret Byrd Stimpson Amphitheater: Located northwest of the Quarters Building, the amphitheater accommodates groups of more than 300, and is used for outdoor concerts, weddings, educational activities and for other large events. The amphitheater may be reserved in accordance with the mission of Blandy. It is accessible by hard-surface walkways, with electricity available.
$50/half-day. 
Picnic Area

Picnic Area: A wheelchair-accessible picnic area, located adjacent to the main visitor parking lot, is available on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be reserved. The picnic area contains standard picnic tables, with a drinking fountain nearby. Electricity is not available. Recycling bins are conveniently located in this area. Visitors can picnic throughout the Arboretum but are asked to remove all trash when finished. No grills, barbecues, or open fires are permitted.

Hewlett Lewis Overlook Pavilion
Hewlett Lewis Overlook Pavilion: This smaller pavilion, located in the wetland section of the Native Plant Trail, is designed for individual and small group viewing of the arboretum wetlands. It cannot be reserved.
