Nov 5 Veterans Parade Lineup informationnWe finally have received lineup information for the Saturday, November 5th, Veteran's Day Parade in downtown Raleigh. All scouts in the Black River District are invited to come in uniform and participate. Bring your unit flags and a banners. The parade line-up starts at 8 AM. The line-up spaces are on South Salisbury Street, between Martin Street and Lenoir Street. The parade will start at 9 AM. Our lineup spot is #43 on the attached map.

Text Reminder system for the Black River DistrictThe Black River District now has a text reminder system. This is the same REMIND system used by many teachers in Wake County Public Schools.To subscribe, just send a text to 81010 with the messagte @brdistrictText messages sent using this system will be reminders of late-breaking information, as well as reminders to check your email for more-detailed messages. We anticipate using this also in support of district events (such as Pinewood Derby or camporee)

Come Join the District Training TeamHey Blackriver!
Well, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer weather.
My name is Stan LaPerriere and I am the Blackriver Training Chair.
It's time to start thinking of getting everyone in your units trained for their
primary role in Scouting.
So this year we will be holding several adult outings (training) to show how
the different Scout programs run. We will be working with all types of Scout
units and exploring how we can make the program fun and safe for everyone.
There are new approaches to teaching the adult leaders how "to deliver the
promise" for our youth.
As with all things Scouting, we need volunteers.

2016 Raleigh Veterans Parade - Saturday, Nov 5, 2016FYI, please let me know if your unit is interested in participating in the 2016 Raleigh Veteran’s Day parade. This is the same day as the University of Scouting training that I encourage all leaders to attend. There’s no reason why the scouts cannot participate in the parade with some amount of parental supervision. Last year the district participated as a collection of units, and I’d encourage the same again this year to have a bigger showing.
