A thrilling new page in role-playing from Blackfall Press, Cold Steel Wardens: Roleplaying in the Iron Age of Comics pulls players into pulse pounding action as vigilantes on the decadent, corrupt streets of Greensburg. Take down gang members in brutal street fights, investigate mobsters and drug deals, and face down psychopathic metahumans with every means at your disposal. The city cries out for help—can you heed the call?
Cold Steel Wardens: Roleplaying in the Iron Age of Comics is a table-top role-playing game for 2-8 players which emulates the Iron Age of Comics, famous for such titles as Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, Hellblazer, Sin City and countless others. Players take on the roles of vigilantes in the fictional city of New Corinth, a city known for its corruption and heinous crime. Using skills, gadgets, and rare metahuman abilities, these heroes take their fight for justice to the crooks, Mafioso and worse that inhabit their city.
The heroes’ adventures take place under the watchful eye of the Warden, a separate player who narrates the action, sets up investigations for the heroes, and controls the NPCs of the world. The Warden pushes the heroes to face down their own flaws, as well as challenges them with difficult ethical and moral choices—how far will a hero go in the name of justice?
Cold Steel Wardens uses a new system, tentatively titled the MAFIANAP mechanic. Simple to understand and built around a core design concept of parallelism, the MAFIANAP mechanics emphasize role-play opportunities and investigative game-play. Cold Steel Wardens only requires a few friends, some paper and pencils, and a handful of ten-sided dice to play.
Cold Steel Wardens: Roleplaying in the Iron Age of Comics is currently in layout, with a tentative release date of August 2013.
A follow-up volume--Cold Steel Wardens: Rogues' Gallery--is already in the planning stages.
